Restorative Dentistry

Advanced solutions that rebuild function and confidence after damage or tooth loss.

Restore Your Smile and Quality of Life

When teeth are missing or damaged beyond the reach of simple fillings or root canal therapy, restorative dentistry offers comprehensive solutions that restore both function and appearance. Our approach combines advanced technology, surgical expertise, and meticulous craftsmanship to create restorations that look natural, feel comfortable, and last for years or decades.

Whether you’re missing one tooth or many, have severely decayed teeth needing extraction, or need a complete smile transformation, Thrive Dental has the expertise and technology to restore your oral health and your quality of life.

Our Restorative Dentistry Services

Dental Crowns and Bridges

A dental crown caps a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its strength and appearance. A bridge closes gaps left by missing teeth by anchoring to adjacent teeth. Both are custom-fabricated to match your natural teeth perfectly.

When you need them:

  • Severe tooth decay that fillings can’t restore
  • Cracked or broken teeth
  • Teeth weakened by root canal therapy
  • Teeth with large, failing old fillings
  • Multiple missing teeth that can be bridged
  • After tooth extractions when you want natural-tooth-based restoration

What makes them excellent: Crowns and bridges restore full function immediately—you can eat and speak normally. They’re durable, lasting 10-15+ years. They look completely natural. The process is straightforward and relatively quick (two appointments, 1-2 weeks total).

See our complete Crowns and Bridges page for detailed information about materials, process, and candidacy.

Dental Implants: The Permanent Solution

A dental implant is a surgically placed titanium post that replaces a missing tooth root. We use Straumann implants—one of the most widely studied systems with high clinical success rates supported by peer-reviewed research. After your bone fuses to the implant (3-6 months), we attach a custom crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth.

When you need them:

  • One or more missing teeth that need permanent replacement
  • Teeth too decayed to save that need extraction and replacement
  • Patients who want the gold standard in tooth replacement
  • Anyone with adequate jawbone

What makes them superior: Implants are the closest restoration to natural teeth. They prevent bone loss, don’t require adjacent tooth modification, last 30-40+ years, feel completely natural, and have the highest patient satisfaction of any tooth replacement.

See our complete Dental Implants page for details about Straumann implants, the surgical process, osseointegration, and candidacy.

All-on-4 Implants: Full Arch on Four Implants

All-on-4 is a revolutionary approach to full-mouth restoration. If you’re missing all or most of your teeth, four strategically placed Straumann implants can support replacement teeth for your entire jaw. Two implants are vertical in the front; two are tilted 45 degrees in the back, using bone efficiently and often eliminating the need for grafting.

When you need it:

  • Missing all teeth in one or both jaws
  • Wearing dentures and want a permanent, stable alternative
  • Severe bone loss making traditional multiple implants impractical
  • Any patient seeking maximum longevity and function at reasonable cost

What makes it transformative: All-on-4 patients often describe it as “getting their life back.” You leave surgery with temporary teeth the same day. No more denture adhesive, no more nightly soaking, no more worry about teeth moving when you chew or speak. The permanent restoration lasts 20-30+ years and prevents the facial collapse and bone loss associated with dentures.

See our complete All-on-4 page for surgical process, timeline, bone considerations, and why it’s often the best choice for full-mouth restoration.

Dentures: Timeless Restoration with Modern Materials

Custom dentures restore your smile when natural teeth are lost. We offer complete dentures (full arch), partial dentures (several missing teeth), conventional dentures (placed after healing), and immediate dentures (placed at extraction). For patients wanting greater stability, implant-supported dentures anchor to implants for superior comfort and retention.

When you need them:

  • Complete tooth loss when implants aren’t possible or desired
  • Several missing teeth when you want to preserve remaining natural teeth
  • Patients prioritizing cost over implant treatment
  • Patients desiring a removable restoration

What makes modern dentures better: Today’s materials are more natural-looking, more durable, and more comfortable than older generations. Proper fit and careful fabrication make them feel less like a prosthetic and more like teeth.

Implant-supported dentures are a game-changer: For the cost of a partial All-on-4, you get the stability of implants plus the removability of dentures—an excellent middle ground between conventional dentures and All-on-4 implants.

See our complete Dentures page for types, fabrication process, care instructions, and the advantages of implant-supported options.

Implant and All-Arch Solutions: Expert Planning for Complex Cases

Every patient is unique. Your missing teeth, bone structure, goals, and budget determine the best solution. We evaluate all options—single implants, multiple implants, implant bridges, All-on-4, All-on-6, implant-supported dentures—and recommend what we genuinely believe is best for your situation.

When you need expert planning:

  • Multiple missing teeth in different locations
  • Significant bone loss requiring specialized approaches
  • Patients considering bone grafting
  • Patients wanting to compare implant-based options
  • Transitioning from failed dentures to permanent restoration

What we do: We use advanced CBCT imaging to assess bone, discuss all viable options with pros/cons/costs for each, and recommend the most efficient, durable, and cost-effective path forward.

See our complete Implant and All-Arch Solutions page for detailed comparisons of single implants, multiple implants, implant bridges, All-on-4, All-on-6, implant-supported dentures, zygoma implants, and bone grafting.

When Teeth Can’t Be Saved: The Decision Tree

Not all damaged teeth require extraction. Your Thrive Dental dentist considers this decision hierarchy:

  1. Can the tooth be saved with root canal therapy? Often yes. Even infected teeth can be saved and crowned.
  2. Can a crown restore a damaged but vital tooth? This is usually the best choice if the nerve is healthy.
  3. Is the tooth fractured below the gum line? If yes, extraction may be unavoidable.
  4. Does the patient want to preserve the tooth or replace it? Some patients prefer the certainty of replacement (implants) over the risk of root canal failure.

Only when a tooth truly cannot be saved do we recommend extraction. We always explain the decision-making process and discuss alternatives before proceeding.

Restorative Materials We Use

Modern restorations use several materials, each with unique advantages:

  • Composite Resin: Tooth-colored, bonds directly to tooth structure. Used for fillings and some crowns. Less durable than ceramic but more conservative.
  • Porcelain: Highly natural-looking, stain-resistant, durable. Ideal for visible teeth.
  • Zirconia: Extremely strong, slightly less translucent than porcelain. Ideal for back teeth and patients with heavy bite forces.
  • Titanium: Used for implant posts. Biocompatible, integrates with bone, lasts 30+ years.

We discuss material options during your consultation and recommend what’s best for your specific tooth and situation.

The Restorative Difference

A missing or damaged tooth affects more than your smile. It impacts your nutrition (you avoid certain foods), your confidence (you cover your mouth), and your long-term oral health (missing teeth accelerate bone loss). Restorative dentistry reclaims all of this.

Patients who choose restorative treatment often tell us they feel like themselves again—able to eat what they want, smile without thinking about it, and face the world with confidence.
